We are now taking applications for projects for 2012

Spring/Easter (Teachers / Therapists ) Group 2012;

Thursday 5th to Thursday 12th April ..

Open to; First time and repeat volunteers. Over 18 years only. Applicants must be a student or work in the field of Education..                           Closing date for receipt of Applications; December 31st 2011

Summer Project 2012;

For First time and Repeat volunteers.

There will be 6 groups of 8 day trips..

Open to applicants over 16 years of age;

Group A1; Saturday 2nd June to Saturday 9th June

Group B1; Saturday 16th June to Saturday 23rd June

Group C1; Saturday 7th July to Saturday 14th July

Group D1; Saturday 21st July to Saturday 28th July

Group E1; Saturday 4th August to Saturday 11th August

Group F1; Saturday 18th August to Saturday 25th August

 

Cost for all 8 day trips; €1100

Flights will be from Dublin to Minsk via Frankfurt with Lufthansa (bags booked through to final destination)

Volunteers will work in all 4 institutions (Novinki, Draznia, Viacha, Semasko)
in the 8 days. The programme will include a minimum of 6 bus excursions with residents to various places of beauty and interest in the Minsk Region.

Volunteers will stay at 'Hotel 40 Year of Victory' in 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedded units
which will be en suite.

All costs include;
Return Flights (4), Visa, Registration in Belarus, All paperwork prior to
departure including ID cards, sponsor cards, information packs etc, All
transport in Belarus by private and public bus, Hotel, Full training in Ireland (2 days training in Cork), A certificate and reference from the BOP Manager and the authorities in Belarus upon completion of the 8 day project. Interpreters and other services in Minsk. Full support from the BOP office in Cork and coordinators nationwide.

Not Included;
Transport to and from the Airport in Dublin / Cork, Meals in Minsk, Belarussian medical Insurance (3euro for 8 days).

For All Projects in 2012 there will be 2 days of training for all volunteers; presented by qualified professionals in the areas of;
Disability Awareness,
Interacting with people with disabilities,
Introduction to Active Learning and Play Therapy,
Attitudes to people with Disability in Belarus,
Challenged communication (with differently abled children and adults
including those with neurodevelopmental problems, Impaired hearing and sight)
including Non verbal communication awareness. CPR, Safety and First Aid,
Mobility and Wheelchair handling and user awareness, Lifting, transferring and positioning. Etiquette for Communicating with People with Disabilities, BOPs Beliefs, Values Vision and Expectations, Volunteer Policy and practice, Public Relations and Fundraising, Planning and preparation for your trip,
Overview of Belarussian Culture and Sociology, Basic Russian...

All Volunteers will receive a certificate of attendance listing the syllabus covered.

Closing date for applications for Summer Project;

For applicants whose forms are received on or before Tuesday January 10th 2012.. Interviews will be held on Thursday 12th January in Galway and on Saturday 14th January 2012 in Cork. Applicants will be allocated an interview time and details of interview venue, upon receipt of their application form.

For applicants whose forms are received on or before Friday January 27th 2012… Interviews will be held on Sunday 29th January in Cork only. Applicants will be allocated an interview time and details of the interview venue, upon receipt of their application form.

BOP will also host interviews in Dublin on the evening of Thursday 2nd February. Times and location will be forwarded by email to all applicants.

 

Dates of Training for Volunteers - all projects in 2012;

Pre-training; Meeting of Successful applicants..

Friday 13th January in Galway 6.30pm to 9pm

Wednesday 1st February in Cork 6.30pm to 9pm

Training Day 1;  Saturday 18th February .. 10am to 6pm

Training Day 2; Sunday 4th March..10am to 6pm

Details of training venues will be forwarded to all successful applicants by email..

Attendance to training is compulsory for all Volunteers.

All applicants will receive  an email by return confirming receipt of their application form and with details of their interview. Please state where you wish to be interviewed (Cork, Galway, Dublin) in the email to which you attached the completed form.
