Belarussian Orphanage Project

Love . Dignity . Integrity . Respect

Semashko Institution

In Spring of 2010, this former boarding school became home to 150+ former residents of Novinki Orphanage.

BOP was there to assist the kids to settle into their new home and developed a broad number of projects.

Our first priority was to construct a general Therapy Centre (pictured below) with an associated Sport Programme including the employment of a full time sports therapist.

Sponsoring the new Semashko Therapy Centre and Sports Hall

Sports Equipment;

As the Kids in Semashko spend 5 long winter months confined indoors because of the harsh        Belarussian Winter we assisted in the renovation so of the old Hall and made it into a top class sports centre where BOP now employs a Sports Therapist to work with the kids.

Our ‘Sports Hall’ is an Indoor winter sports ground where the kids can play a variety of games and sports and in the process get some much needed exercise.

We also Constructed a stage area for concerts and presentations and provided the administration with a top of the range sound system complete with microphones for this purpose. Our therapist also hosts a large number of Discos weekly.

We also sponsored the Art Therapy programme which has proved a great success with many of the goods being purchased and donated by volunteers from Ireland.

Our Excursion Programme provides a 55 seater bus for multiple weekly excursions in Spring, Summer and Autumn to places of interest including the Zoo, Museums and a number of other areas in the city.

Trips to the Circus and Ballet are also held during the winter and festive season.
