Year round Excursion Programme.

Belarussian Orphanage Project is committed to contributing resources to the development of Draznia. Here are some of our programmes.

The residents of Draznia love to take to the stage.. (as can be seen here!!) and BOP has set up a costume for concerts and fancy dress wardrobe for all to use. To coincide with this we also  implemented our make-up programme for ladies and providing them with cosmetics and make-up.

This programme aims to meet the needs of almost every resident in Draznia as they attend the centres daily to participate in Keep fit classes and Drama classes. Draznia represented Belarus at an international drama festival in Lodz, Poland in September 2009.

With a complete unit in Draznia dedicated to the needs of those who are immobile, BOP will continue to provide specialised chairs and equipment, beds, air mattresses etc. as the need arises. Everyday medications, creams and items required by the medical team are also provided.

Every Adult in Draznia.. (over 480+) will participate in a programme to celebrate their birthday. BOP employs a special party planner and music therapist who organises the weekly party for those who want to celebrate with their friends. Our birthday programme guarantees a great day for all.

Continuing our policy of developing the territory of the Institution, the grounds have been renovated and redecorated and we expand the garden space each summer putting in gardens, pathways, seating and cabins.

A New purpose built Art Therapy room was opened in late 2008. Here residents participate in art classes with trained art therapists. Draznia Artists have exhibited at the National Library of Belarus to great acclaim and have an exhibition on tour to all cities in Belarus for 2009/2010.

Day trips to Kurgan Slava, Haitin and other places of interest that the residents request to go to, will be organised on a year round basis.. and night trips to the Ballet, Circus and to the drama theatre are all part of our excursions programme with bus and staff provided.

All residents live in 4 bedded dormitories and in the past we have renovated over 30 of these.. We plan now to continue this project and renovate, decorate and refurnish the remaining rooms on a regular basis. Every aspect of the dormitories will be changed incl T.V’s, radios, quilts, curtains, art etc.

With the success of the ‘Art for Kids’ programme in Novinki and the redecoration of the entrance corridor of Draznia, we now plan to purchase a large number of paintings and put them up in all of the dormitories and corridors of the building and therefore create a more hospitable environment.

BOP maintains and updates Video, Music and Book libraries in the 3 Therapy Centres. We hope to extend the library to the new building and setting it up on the ground floor where all residents can have access to it..

At our rehabilitation centre in downtown Minsk, a number of Draznia residents attend to learn both life and personal development skills. They also learn to shop, cook and use the city’s public transports systems under the supervision of our therapists.
